At Augbre we bring over 60 years of combined law enforcement experience—most of it earned on the front lines and in leadership with the Chicago Police Department. Founded by seasoned public safety professionals Augustina Gonzalez and Joseph Brennan, Augbre is built on a legacy of service, strategy, and trust in one of the nation’s most complex urban environments.
With deep roots in Chicago, our team has led high-impact initiatives across tactical operations, community engagement, and large-scale technology deployments—experience that directly informs how we approach private security and public safety consulting today.

Augustina Gonzalez is a highly accomplished public safety executive with more than three decades of law enforcement experience. Her career with the Chicago Police Department reflects a steady rise through the ranks, where she led some of the city’s most critical operations in technology integration, field command, and interagency coordination.
As Captain and Executive Officer within the Bureau of Technical Services, Augustina was at the forefront of CPD’s modernization efforts. She oversaw the implementation of cutting-edge systems including ShotSpotter gunshot detection, Genetec video surveillance, and a department-wide rollout of mobile devices and body-worn cameras. Under her leadership, 20 Strategic Decision Support Centers were built across the city—redefining real-time response, intelligence sharing, and officer safety.
Augustina’s leadership extended across multiple bureaus, including Patrol, Organizational Development, and the Bureau of Detectives. She directed juvenile justice reform efforts, led complex child exploitation and abuse investigations in coordination with federal partners, and supervised high-stakes narcotics and asset forfeiture operations targeting organized crime networks.
Her approach combines deep operational knowledge with strategic foresight, balancing compassion-driven initiatives with precision-focused enforcement. Whether managing public safety at major events like Chicago Cubs games or coordinating responses at the Emergency Operations Center, Augustina has built a reputation for professionalism, clarity under pressure, and unwavering dedication to community safety.
Today, as the Founder and CEO of Augbre, Augustina brings her unparalleled experience to the private sector. Her firm delivers advanced security services, strategic risk assessments, and integrated safety solutions for clients across industries. Her mission is simple: to raise the standard for private security by applying lessons learned from decades on the front lines.
Augustina holds a Master of Business Administration from St. Xavier University, a Bachelors of Science in Criminal Justice from Calumet College of St. Joseph and is also a graduate of the Senior Management Institute for Police . She is a recognized leader in emergency management, tactical operations, and public safety innovation.

Joseph Brennan is a veteran law enforcement executive and security strategist with more than 30 years of experience leading complex public safety operations and high-risk investigations. Throughout his distinguished career with the Chicago Police Department, Joseph rose through the ranks to serve as Commander and Acting Street Deputy, overseeing more than 400 officers and personnel in some of the city’s most dynamic districts.
Recognized for his tactical expertise, strategic planning, and leadership under pressure, Joseph has led major crime reduction initiatives, coordinated high-stakes tactical operations, and implemented forward-thinking community policing programs. He is known for building trust with residents, developing data-driven enforcement strategies, and forging strong partnerships with local stakeholders, elected officials, and advocacy groups.
In his role as Director of Security for the 2024 Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Joseph led all planning and implementation of security protocols for one of the most high-profile events in the country. His responsibilities included threat assessments, access control design, coordination with law enforcement agencies, and management of a large-scale security workforce using the latest in surveillance and event technology.
Joseph has served on and worked with multiple Chicago area task forces, directed covert investigations targeting organized crime and gang enterprises, and trained officers across the city in critical incident response, crisis de-escalation, and culturally competent policing. His well-rounded expertise spans from tactical deployments and special investigations to executive leadership and operational oversight.
Joseph holds a Master of Science in Financial Fraud and a Master of Business Administration from St. Xavier University, as well as a Bachelor of Arts from Northern Illinois University. He is also a graduate of the Senior Management Institute for Police and has completed specialized training through the FBI, HIDTA, and national law enforcement leadership programs.
